Haji Mohammad Soffian Haji Umar

A professional engineer and manager with more than 30 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, construction industry and management. He has held supervisory and managerial positions in maintenance and production operations, turnaround (shutdown) management, offshore construction, contracts management and health, safety and environmental (HSE) management; managing teams ranging from project teams, departmental and combined groups up to 500 people. Soffian is also an experienced entrepreneur managing businesses in retail, web-hosting & web-advertising, as a corporate & business management advisor and consultant, and HSE management services including HSE training, hazard & risk assessment, site inspection & auditing. Soffian is competent and passionate in people development, and a practitioner of change management, strategic planning, corporate management, business improvement, training and development, and HSE management. An active member of The Brunei Malay Chambers and Commerce (DPPMB), Deputy Chairman of Koperasi DPPMB, (former) Expert Support to the Industry HSE Group (iHSEg), Manpower Industry Steering Committee (Construction) - Co-chair of the HSE Task Force, and an Affiliate Member of IOSH
